Starting a river with the River tool occasionally doesn't trace the expected path. Normally you can tell you're having this error because the river starts and then almost immediately "hides behind" the map surface you're drawing it on. (Not a layer issue, I checked.) Or it may not "hide," but you don't get a river line. Clicking point by point as if you were getting a line sometimes produces results after a few seconds, but more often draws random disconnected segments in the area. Other times the tool works as expected.
I almost always use Fractal or Freehand settings, if that's relevant.
